New Project and a Riddle!

We're making a new piece in a new color...you guessed it: black! This piece is inspired by one of the most beautiful, amazing cats ever to live, Peaches Le Purr, whose fur was the blackest black you'd ever seen. (Rest in peace, Le Purr). It's also inspired by the material that's sitting next to the flowers in the above image. Can you guess what it is? Here's a riddle: what do the two things pictured above have in common?

Here's a hint: they both burn.

That's right, the answer is they're both carbon based. One is paper and the other is coal. Who knew coal was so beautiful.

Stay tuned for the new black piece to be finished soon!

Transporting "WOW, That's BIG!"

Last month we completed our biggest wall hanging to date for a wedding in Bel Aire. We received a lot of inquires about how we transported this 12-foot long creation and so we thought we'd just show you. Thanks to our trusty helpers (AKA "muscles") we got it over there and hung up in time for the sunset wedding. Stay tuned for a shot of the piece at the wedding.

"Wow!" The Bel Aire Wedding Wall Hanging

This 12-foot wall hanging was commissioned for a wedding in Bel Aire this month. It took about 6-4 weeks to complete and was quite the ordeal to assemble! But we are very pleased with the results and are excited to install at the wedding venue this Friday. Stay tuned for more pictures!

Our Latest Creation: Goddess

Goddess is a 76" X 48" wall hanging made with high-quality, acid free paper. It will be on display (and for sale) at Erinn V Maison in Beverly Hills this coming week.

Goddess breaks down into two separate pieces, so if your space isn't big enough to accommodate the whole thing, not to worry! This first segment, which we call "(bobsmith!)," is 42" X 39".

And this second piece, called "Linda," is 49" X 48".

We displayed "Linda" at a wedding event, Bride Bop's Big Day, at Erinn V Maison this past Sunday. Linda and (bobsmith!) will be reunited to form Goddess soon! Stop by the store (319 S. Robertson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA) and check it out!

Fleur de CD Unveiled at RuckusRoots TRASHion Show!

We had a blast at the RuckusRoots TRASHion Show on June 16th. The event was a fundraiser for sustainable arts education, and included a fashion show of garments made entirely out of recycled items. We were thrilled to be asked to participate, and enjoyed the challenge of making a piece of wearable art entirely out of recycled paper. Paper Botanicals designer Susan Spehar used a collection of old CD cases left over from her children's adolescent years to build an intricate, wearable ode to rock n' roll, which she called Fleur de CD. The body of the dress was constructed using mainly the CD inserts, while the shoulder adornments and back "cape" was created with recycled white paper flowers Paper Botanicals had built for a wedding last year. Susan's daughter Stephanie modeled the dress, and both mother and daughter got to walk down the aisle together. What a special night! Below are some pictures, you can see more pictures of the entire event on the RuckusRoots website or on the RuckusRoots Facebook page! Thanks to Dan Krauss for all the images.
